CLASSES FOR YOUTH

The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre offers workshops and ensemble training for youth, with an emphasis on the collaborative nature of the theatrical art.  We partner with local middle and high schools to shape the complete theatre artist, onstage, backstage, and front-of-house.

Foundations in Theater for ages 8-11

10 Saturdays, 9:00 - 10:15 a.m. January 19 - March 23, 2019

Foundations in Theater is a semester-long course recommended for students ages 8-11 who wish to learn the basics of theater through experiential activities, games, collaboration and storytelling. Students will learn about writing & performance. The course will cultivate a sense of dedication to craft, respect for fellow artists, and joy in performing. The semester will culminate in a showcase of student work. 

 

Acting Shakespeare for Ages 10-12

10 Saturdays, 9:00 - 10:15 a.m. January 19 - March 23, 2019

Acting Shakespeare is a semester-long course recommended for students ages 10-12 who wish to explore the works of Shakespeare and hone their acting skills through experiential activities, monologue and scene work. Students will learn about rhythm, meter, scansion and text interpretation. The course will cultivate a sense of dedication to craft, respect for fellow artists, and joy in performing. The semester will culminate in a showcase of student work.

 

Monologue and Scenework for Teens

10 Saturdays, 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. January 19 - March 23, 2019

Monologue and Scenework is a semester-long course recommended for students ages 13-18 who wish to deepen their skills in monologue, scene work, and auditioning. Students will work on both Shakespearian and contemporary monologues and scenes, honing their use of language, character development, movement, expression, and scene study.
