Foundations in Theater
Who: Students ages 9-13
When: 11 Saturdays, 9 - 10:20 a.m. September 23 - December 9, 2017*
*No class on 11/25
Cost: $175, all materials included.
Instructors: Holly Griffith & Bryan Falcón, with guest artists
Foundations in Theater is a semester-long course recommended for students ages 9-13 who wish to learn the basics of theater through experiential activities, games, collaboration and storytelling. Students will learn about writing, performance, and technical theatre. The course will cultivate a sense of dedication to craft, respect for fellow artists, and joy in performing. The semester will culminate in a showcase of student work.
Skills students will develop during this course:
- Ensemble building and games
- Movement and gesture
- Vocal skills
- Collaborative storytelling
- Observation and listening
- An understanding of theatre terms and technologies
