Puppets on Camera Workshop
Two Sessions

Performing puppets for recorded media requires a unique variety of skills when working with a video monitor as the audience.
Lisa Sturz, Emmy award-winning Artistic Director of Red Herring Puppets, has decades of experience performing puppets on camera and training others to succeed. Her TV/film credits include Elmo in Grouchland, Muppets from Space,Howard the Duck, the Flintstones, Ninja Turtles 3, RoboCop2, Gremlins 2, Murphy Brown, PuzzlePlace, Batman Returns and several commercials and eCards.
Bring your own hand and rod (Muppet style) puppet or borrow one of several that will be provided.
Interested participants are invited to attend either or both sessions. In the second session we will continue with the skills in Session One and will add group improvisations and choreograph a musical number.
In this practical application workshop participants will learn about and practice:
how to find the center of “the frame”
how to keep a consistent height
use of breath in performance
practice lip synch best practices
learn about eye focus
explore emotional posture
expand on vocal characterization
fine tune comic timing and punctuation.
COST: $50 for one session, $80 for both sessions
Who: Adults and older teens (15+)
