Timeless STORIES + Challenging questions + Theater for All Ages

A Theatre For All Ages

Opening in September 2017, the newest theatre in Tucson, The Scoundrel & Scamp, will immerse, challenge and invigorate our community in theatrical works ranging from classics to new. We will provide a space where local artists and cross-generational audiences alike explore deep and provocative questions regarding self, tribe, life, death and what it ultimately means to be human. We will strive to cultivate the next generation of theatre artists through collaboration, imagination, inquiry, and training.

Take Part

Theatre is intrinsically a local medium, and The Scoundrel & Scamp is dedicated to fully engaging the artists of our community. The S&S holds annual auditions in Tucson (May) and makes its facilities available for rentals for short term engagements for readings, music and performance.

Audition!

The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre, in combination with our neighbor, The Rogue Theatre, will hold auditions for the 2017–2018 season on Saturday, April 29th, 12:00–4:00 pm at The Rogue Theatre.

Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, May 9th from 5:30 to 9:00, also at The Rogue.

Book the Mainstage

The Scoundrel & Scamp will offer a newly-remodeled, modern 150-seat theatre space, configurable in proscenium, thrust or in-the-round configurations. We will seek to cultivate a small set of similarly minded artists interested in utilizing the theatre for regular short-run events.

Renovate The ZUZI!

We are passionate about creating engaging, interesting places at the heart of where we live. We are also excited by the anchor that the Historic Y serves for local organizations interested in the environment, the arts, and social justice.  To do our part, we are investing in a loving renovation of The ZUZI! Theatre, a space that has served the community as a home for movement, dance and theatre for nearly two decades. When this project is complete, theatre and dance will have a beautiful, modernized home in which student and artist alike can learn, explore and thrive.

Support Storytelling

Spread the love of a good story...admission-free!

Our Storyteller Series brings classic childhood stories to life, accompanied music, dance, and puppets.  You can support the opportunity for families to attend without needing to worry about the cost - something which can be a real deterrent to bringing children to the theatre.

Please click on the button below to sponsor a reading of the world's best stories at the Scoundrel & Scamp - and don't be shy about suggesting a favorite children's story or two of your own for a future reading!

Located just off 4th Avenue at The Historic Y.

The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre is accessible from the back parking lot of The Historic Y.  We share facilities with ZUZI! Dance.

Our facilities, currently under renovation, will provide a flexible theatre and dance space, studio classroom, and beautiful lobby for our patrons.

Our managing and artistic team consists of experienced writers, actors, designers and directors.
