At the Scoundrel & Scamp, we aim to support teachers' efforts to enhance students' arts literacy by providing substantially discounted tickets for teachers and students and by providing convenient matinee performance times for student field trips.

Consider joining us for our 2023-24 Matinees for Schools program, featuring shows for students of all ages!

Matinee tickets are $10.50 per student, chaperone, or teacher. Seating is limited - book early to reserve your date!

Attending our theater is an experience in itself. Conveniently located just off 4th Avenue within The Historic Y, our proscenium-style mainstage is a state-of-the-art performance space.

A Wrinkle in Time

October 26 - November 12, 2023

The S&S brings this Newbery Award-winning tale from the beloved children’s book to life. One of literature's most enduring young heroines, Meg Murry, joins forces with three mysterious witches and her extraordinary brother to battle the forces of evil — and rescue her father, save humanity, and find herself. L’Engle has described her novel as her “psalm of praise to life, [a] stand for life against death.”

Recommended for ages 7+.

Runtime: Approximately 120 minutes.

The Book of Will

February 29 - March 17, 2024

After the death of their friend and mentor, William Shakespeare, two of his friends and fellow actors are determined to compile his plays into a folio and preserve the words that shaped their lives. However, fire, warring publishers, and death make bringing this books to print easier said than done. Amidst the noise and color of Elizabethan London, this hilarious, heartbreaking and award-winning play by the playwright of Ada and the Engine finds an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter.

Recommended for ages 12+.

Red Herring Puppets

Year-Round Dates

For several decades, Red Herring Puppets have been producing high quality, curriculum-based “edu-tainment” for young audiences and compelling theatre for adults. They have been featured at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, the Puppet Showplace in Brookline, Ma., the 1st International Puppet Fringe Festival in NYC, and several national and regional conferences for the Puppeteers of America.

Recommended for ages 4+.

Runtime: Under 60 minutes.
