Are you an actor looking to polish your materials and presentation skills for audition season? Join Molly Lyons for this audition workshop in the style of a master class, in which each student will receive individual coaching on slating, monologues, and -- if you're auditioning for musical theater -- songs.

The workshop is held across three evenings. The first session focuses on auditions as a whole, including format, slating, monologue selection, self presentation, and more; the second session focuses on workshopping participants' first monologue; and the third session focuses on workshopping participants' second monologue or song and ends with a mock audition. Each participant will work directly with Lyons, who has a breadth of acting techniques and practical experience from which to draw in order to prepare actors to shine in the constraints of the audition room. Actors will benefit not only from the direct feedback and coaching Lyons provides, but also observing their peers and the feedback they recieve.

Participants should prepare their audition package in advance of the workshop; each monologue should be between 30-60 seconds. For reference, Tucson Community Audition organizers request applicants prepare two contrasting monologues that do not exeed two minutes. If an actor is planning on auditioning for a musical, a 16-bar song selection may replace one of the monologues.

Lyons recommends bringing the following:

  • water

  • snacks

  • clothes in which you’re comfortable moving, plus an audition outfit on day 3

  • headshot & resume

Please read The Scoundrel & Scamp Class Policy prior to registration.

Director, actor, and teacher Molly Lyons will lead the audition workshop.
