Season 6 Auditions

Information on Auditions

The S&S Theatre will hold in-person open auditions for the 2022-23 season on Saturday, April 23rd from 6:00 to 10:00 PM.

The open auditions will be followed by callbacks on Sunday, April 24th & Monday, April 25th, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM.

All actors who have not worked at the S&S in previous seasons are invited to join us for open auditions. Open audition actors should prepare two contrasting monologues, no more than one minute long each.

If you have previously acted in an S&S production, you will be able to bypass the open audition process and we will schedule time for you to read at our callbacks at your request.

Note: If you are ages 8- 18 we will be holding auditions this fall for our Scamp Company production of The Trial of Loki. Please stay tuned for announcements on how to sign up.

PART ONE: Fill out our Google Form
PART TWO: Create an AZ Inclusive Casting Platform profile. If you have previously made a profile please submit a new entry.

After you submit the AZ-ICP profile we will be in contact with you within 48 hours to confirm your audition times.

Please note that for your health and safety there will be no physical materials (headshots or resumes) utilized for Season 6 auditions. Everything must be be submitted digitally.


Auditions/Callbacks Safety Guidelines

Thank you for reading over these guidelines ahead of your audition in order to keep everyone safe.

Please remain at home if you have been in contact with someone who is known or suspects to have COVID 19 in the past 10 days. If you aren’t feeling well, please do not attend auditions. We will do our best to accommodate you to read at a later date and/or audition you via Zoom.

Everyone will be required to wear masks at all times when within the building, but you will be able to remove your mask while on stage.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations are required to participate in auditions & callbacks. Should you be selected, S&S will again require all artistic staff (including actors) to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to the start of rehearsals.


Other Information

We will be casting from all genders and ethnicities.
BIPOC actors are welcome and encouraged to audition.

All roles are paid an honorarium.

Equity and non-Equity actors welcome.

We will require all artistic staff (including actors) to provide proof of vaccination prior to the first rehearsal of a show.


Roles Available for Season Six

Please read through our available roles so you can indicate your interest when you sign up for auditions.

Rehearsals are generally held Tuesday-Thursday evenings, with daytime rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays.

Roles are available for the following productions. At this time, all rehearsals are planned to be held in person at the S&S Theatre.

Faustus: that Damned Woman

Runs Oct 13-30, 2022.
REhearsals Begin in Late August.

To what lengths would you go to achieve true freedom? Are institutions of power and privilege vulnerable to anything less than supernatural deconstruction? In this provocative and magical new gender-swapped take on the Faust myth, Johanna Faustus strikes a bargain with Lucifer, delivering her soul to him in exchange for the right to claim mastery over her own person and over time itself.

A.A. Milne's timeless and beloved characters are brought to life in this whimsical new adaptation of the heartfelt stories of Winnie the Pooh. Join Pooh, Piglet, and their friends in the Hundred Acre Wood! Through their many adventures with the young human, C, the forest-dwellers face the challenges and earn the triumphs that come along with growth, friendship, acceptance, and the courage it takes to not only face one's fears, but also to ask for help. This one is pure heart — and honey.

BRONTË

In 1845, Branwell Brontë returns home to his sisters in disgrace, plagued by his addictions and the scandals in which he is mired. As he descends into alcoholism and insanity, bringing chaos to the household, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne plot… and write. Polly Teale's extraordinary play evokes the real and imagined worlds of the Brontës, as the fictional characters come to haunt their creators.

One Twig at a Time

NOTE: FOUR DAYTIME SCHOOL MATINEE PERFORMANCES
REhearsals Begin in MID February.

Found object puppetry, poetic visual theater, humor, pathos, drought, flood, over-abundance, and the vacuum of space are explored in an inspiring and heartfelt new ensemble work by visual storyteller Wolfe Bowart (OAF, Cloud Soup, Letter’s End). Wolfe returns to the S&S stage with the Tati and Jeunet inspired One Twig at a Time. An ensemble of five multigenerational actors, including Bowart, will explore community via a series of visual poems drawn from notebooks the theater-maker has filled over the years with abstract sketches, dreams and theatrical images.
